As scary as it seems, finals are just around the corner. At one time or another, you or someone you know may have experienced their own horror story during finals. Sound familiar?
Enter our blogging contest and share with us–and your fellow students–your worst finals horror stories for a chance at a published article and by-line on the Questia blog Citations, PLUS a $250 Visa gift card!
How to enter the blogging contest
1. Submit your article via the submission form below anytime before 11:59 PM CST Friday, December 12. One submission per person.
2. Our editorial team will select 3 finalists to have their blog posts published live on the Questia blog – permanently.
3. From there it’s up to YOU (the public) to vote for your favorite among the 3 finalists. To vote, comment on your favorite blog post with “Vote!” up to once per day before [insert date here].
4. Whichever blog post has the most votes will win a $250 Visa gift card!** We will announce the winner of the blogging contest on the Questia Facebook page on or after January 1, 2015.
Blogging contest article criteria
Every good writer must know the key points that are necessary for a remarkable blog article. For those that don’t, below you will find the criteria to consider when writing your post for the blogging contest:
1. Introduce yourself – Include a brief author bio or introduction including your name, school, year in school, and course of study. Readers love to know where their information is coming from.
2. Make post 350-650 words – First present all important details, then edit them back down to around 650 if too long, or start researching content to add if too short.
3. Must be well-written, creative and fun for your peers to read – It’s important to keep in mind that once you complete the first two criteria steps, we will select our top three finalists based on #3. Keep your audience (college students!) in mind as you write. Consider what might be useful to them, what students need to know, and what they might enjoy reading.
Blogging contest topic
We want to hear real-life experiences from college students! Share with us your worst finals week experiences. Examples include:
- Went to wrong building for final exam before realizing exam was being held across campus.
- Tried to pull an all-nighter and crashed so hard that you missed your alarm, and missed exam as a result.
- Studied for hours and hours for one subject, entered exam room and realized you studied for the wrong subject.
I’m sure many of you have experienced issues such as the above before – or at least know someone who has. If you have not, you are one lucky duck!
Next steps
After you have shared your personal finals week horror stories, we want you to share (1) what could have been done to prevent the horror story from occurring, (2) what you learned from it, and (3) how you will avoid it from happening again.

- Must be 18 or older and a college student to win.
- **Visa gift card winner must be a resident of the continental U.S. for shipping purposes.
- All submissions must be at least 350 words to be considered.
